PHOENIX -- A local mom is helping picky eaters, both kids and adults, to become more adventurous.

Lori Osiecki started her business "Max on Snax" because she had picky eaters at home, and she knew she wasn't alone. So she decided to come up with a website and service to help change perceptions of food.

Lori invented mymaxpack.com and started Max on Snax, a monthly event for children where they get fun recipes and education on better food in a cartoon format.

The character Max is a little boy who prepares healthy food for family and friends, and teaches kids lifelong healthy eating habits.

Lori's hope for this company was to get kids excited to eat the right stuff! "Our goal was to give parents the tools that they need to steer their children toward healthier food," she says.

On Tuesday's Good Morning Arizona, Lori's young helper Ryan demonstrated how to make her "Counting Salad," which helps kids count as they eat.

The character Max is deigned to be both an ally for parents and a peer for kids. He has won acclaim from the Surgeon General, the USDA, Olympians, and celebrity chefs.

His app, Max's Plate, has received nearly 20,000 downloads. Max on Snax encompasses a range of apps, books, animated and web content, and provides further hands-on engagement through the Max On Snax Snax Maker's Club is a monthly program providing fun, unique projects and recipes.

Max Packs are designed to facilitate quality time between parents and children, by giving them the means of creating snacks, crafts, and other projects together.

Each Max Pack, delivered monthly, will contain a link to an exclusive Max On Snax episode featuring the preparation of a healthy snack, as made by the Max character. The episodes feature engaging storylines with tie-in extras, such as printable recipe cards and hands-on activities to reinforce healthy habits and good nutrition.

The snack recipes, intended for young children, will teach children basic skills related to the preparation of food, including counting and measuring, kitchen safety, the mixing and assembly of ingredients, identification portion sizes, and sharing with others.

Additional activities will include games, coloring sheets, seasonal crafts, and more. Exclusive merchandise, such as kid-sized cooking accessories and recipe cards, will also be included in the Max Pack kits.

Here are some of Lori's favorite tips for parents of picky eaters: -Pair old favorites with new ingredients -Make healthy snacks easy to reach and access -Teach by example
